OASIS: Empowering Science Teachers with Research-based Coaching

A science teacher working with students, SNUDLE projected on a whiteboard behind them

Project Name
Stepping Up with OASIS: Opening Access to Science Instruction and Support

Project Description

This project will design and deliver an enhanced model of professional development training and coaching to support the classroom implementation of CAST’s universally designed digital science notebook known as SNUDLE. Coaches who work with teachers on using SNUDLE will have access to online and blended learning experiences to support their work. After co-developing the experiences with schools using a user-centered, design-based research approach, CAST will pilot OASIS in Houston, Texas to assess its promise in authentic school and classroom settings, assess the promise of various active components, and collect feedback on the quality, usefulness, and relevance of the OASIS training and coaching model. Finally, CAST will conduct a dissemination study that assesses the quality of the OASIS coaching model and facilitates its adoption by schools.
